Lesbiana is related to a language problematic linked to the visibility that is given to the word lesbian, specifically on LGTB+ and queer related books and manuals.
This piece emerges from the experience of reading these kinds of content and finding a late (or nonexistent) appearance of the word lesbian. Malena thinks about this, and about the -still- invisible role that has been assigned to the lesbian community, even on our safe spaces where we belong to socially.
The work itself consists on a video performance where Malena writes again and again the word lesbian (in Spanish lesbiana) with a continuous rhythm that grows within her tiredness, that comes when performing the same action persistently.
It is a symbolic representation about how I embody on myself the accountability to find the representation of myself in those books and manuals.– Malena Hidalgo
